Cory grew up in the Gainesville area of North Central Florida, and attended the University of Florida, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in English and began to develop his skills in legal writing. While at UF, Cory was a member of the Virgil Hawkins Pre-Law Society, as well as the Pre-Legal Honors Society, in which he participated in and coached mock trial teams. After his undergraduate studies, Cory was accepted to study at Stetson University College of Law. Upon moving to St. Petersburg to attend law school, Cory decided he would make Tampa Bay his home.
While at Stetson Law, Cory was chosen to compete for the National Champion Trial Team. As a member of the Trial Team, Cory diligently worked to hone his trial skills and study the Rules of Evidence; in fact, it was through the Stetson Trial Team that Cory initially became an intern at Clark Law. It was also during his time at Stetson that Cory first became passionate about criminal defense—this passion grew as Cory learned more through his studies, and he devoted himself to becoming a criminal defense attorney. Cory graduated from Stetson Law with dual degrees: Juris Doctor and Master of Law in Advocacy.
Cory worked as an intern for Clark Law for over two years while in law school and, during this time, he received wide exposure and vigorous training in the practice of law. It was also during his time as an intern that Cory gained experience and developed a love for personal injury law. After passing the Florida Bar Exam, Cory immediately accepted a position at Clark Law. Cory now uses his skills in legal writing and trial advocacy to zealously represent the clients of Clark Law.Contact Cory Powell
